                Get Creative With Your Laminator

June 17, 2013 by Jeff McRitchie

Laminators can be used in the office, at home, or in the classroom. While they’re great for laminating items such as signs and maps, you can also get quite creative with them. Here are few creative things you can do and make with your laminator:
                • If you’re interested in photography or you need some new decorations for your office, you can print out your favorite photographs on your color printer and then laminate them. Lamination will not only protect your pictures, it will make the colors more vivid. Also, printing and laminating the photos yourself will help you save a little bit of money so you can have new things to look at without dropping a lot of cash.
                • Do you have a collection of magazine and newspaper clippings? Perhaps they’re squirreled away in a drawer or are hidden in a shoebox. Laminating them is a great idea because they’ll be protected so you can enjoy them over the years. If you do this right after cutting your articles and pictures out of the publication, you’ll prevent them from becoming yellow and brittle so they’ll look brand new for a long time.
                • Flash cards are valuable learning tools. Students of any age can use them. For younger kids, they can be used to teach the names of colors, animals, and so on. For students in college, they’re helpful for memorizing vocabulary and other information, especially in demanding subjects like art history and literary criticism. You can make your own flash cards and them laminate them so you can either help yourself or someone you know do well in school.
                • Are you a musician? If so, laminating your sheet music can be a good idea. If you use a thick pouch, your sheet music will become rigid so you can refer to it more easily when it’s placed on a music stand. (The pages won’t go limp or float away.) Also, the laminate will protect the sheets from spills so they’ll look great and you won’t need to replace them.
                • Some laminators can handle film that has adhesive on one side. If your machine can do this, you can make your own stickers and labels. The stickers could be used to decorate your scrapbooks or you can even start a sticker collection. Address labels and name tags are also some things you could create. You’re only limited by your imagination.
Things don’t have to be all business with your laminator. Give a couple of these ideas a try so you can start using your laminator for more creative projects. Have fun!
