MyBinding.com’s Jeff McRitchie Speaks At National Convention

October 9, 2012 by Jeff McRitchie

jeff-mcritchie-bm-content-1Our VP of Marketing, Jeff McRitchie, is scheduled to speak this week at Propel 2012, a national convention hosted by TriMega Purchasing Association. The conference runs Wednesday-Friday (10/10-10/12) in Orlando, Florida and aims at creating networking and educational opportunities for its dealer members. Jeff was invited to speak on ”Tips to Propel Your Online Business using Free Web Tools.”

The invitation comes on the heels of a recent TriMega webinar in which Jeff spoke on how to maximize search engine results. After rave reviews and near-record setting attendance, it was clear that Jeff’s experience and knowledge could impact a lot of people. Specifically, Jeff’s coming presentation is geared toward helping small businesses grow.

“Several of these free strategies are so simple yet very effective,” he says. “Many local businesses in any area could highly benefit from the knowledge delivered in this presentation.”

For those unfamiliar with the TriMega Purchasing Association, it’s a nationwide non-profit cooperative comprised of businesses operating in the office and computer supply industry. Its focus is to provide nearly 600 members with quality marketing materials and information sharing through networking. Consequently, TriMega organizes an annual convention to bring together its dealers and suppliers as well as other regional events throughout the year.

MyBinding.com has been a TriMega member for several years. Jeff says that he’s looking forward to partnering even more in the future with other seminars.

“Small business Internet marketing is only a sliver of what I do and what I’ve learned over the years as VP of Marketing. I’m looking forward to offering more helpful talks in the future on a variety of topics.”

Jeff started the MyBinding.com web site from scratch nearly ten years ago and helped it expand into one of the fastest growing private companies in the US. He is an expert at finding ways to creatively advertise and specializes in Internet marketing and SEO. Additionally, he has donated his time to help a number of small, local businesses and has had the opportunity to speak at other industry conferences.

All of us here at MyBinding.com agree that one of Jeff’s strengths is sharing information. Unlike other marketers who hoard their knowledge and experience, Jeff is generous with the things he’s learned, especially if he knows it will help someone else succeed. For this reason, we’ll know he’ll be a huge hit at this year’s convention.

                Good luck, Jeff!

How We Got Started Doing Video – A Case Study

July 31, 2012 by Jeff McRitchie Leave a Comment

We’re still so excited about having just shared at MozCon that we thought we’d post just once more about it. Yesterday we shared the link to the Slideshare presentation that accompanied our VP’s speech. Here is the video that went along with that talk:

It all began at the Old Spaghetti Factory. Over a plate of pasta, Jeff McRitchie, the vice president of marketing for MyBinding.com, decided to start making videos for marketing. Mark Colligan said, “Hey, I can do that…I think.” What if we could use the power of video to increase sales? So we started with a couple of hands, a top selling binding machine, a makeshift studio with lights and a camera – better make it two, cheap ones.

But wait, we sell binding machines, laminators, paper trimmers, and stuff like that. So we began to think through what would people watch. We’re not a very sexy company, it’s not all that slick to sell a binding machine. So, what do they want? We brainstormed and came up with some lists: top sellers, frequently asked questions. And from our customer service department department, we came up with product reviews and how tos. In short, we wanted to be helpful. And when people are searching for answers or a particular product, we want them to find us.

Armed with our questions, customer needs, and our expertise, we raided the warehouse, grabbed a lot of product, stacked them high, and began to shoot. We got some new cameras, added a few lights, and showed the world we knew what we were doing. We used a home office to edit the videos and add voice-overs. Toni made product graphics, Chelsea did the transcriptions and uploading to video sites, we’re pretty sure this guy did something, the marketing team weighed in with their ideas. And with effective video distribution and great customer focus, we’ve gone from zero views to fastly approaching over two and a half million. Not bad for a binding company.

What video tricks have worked for you?

MyBinding.com VP Jeff McRitchie to Speak at MozCon 2012 on Creating Awesome Video on a Budget

July 23, 2012 by Jeff McRitchie

Top-12-YouTube-bm-content-1VP of Marketing Jeff McRitchie teams up with SEOMoz to give a talk on video marketing on a budget.

HILLSBORO, OR (July 23, 2012) – Jeff McRitchie, vice president of marketing at MyBinding.com, has the honor of presenting at MozCon 2012 in Seattle, WA. MozCon is an annual event gathering hundreds of the top SEOs in the country together for knowledge sharing, learning, and collaboration.

“This is a great opportunity for me to share what I’ve learned about video marketing,” said McRitchie. “Between research and trial and error, I’ve gathered many tips that will help others just getting started with video.”

McRitchie is one of four community speakers selected from a pool of 150 candidates to give a presentation at MozCon. His talk, titled “Creating Awesome Video on a Budget”, will focus on low-cost solutions to video marketing. McRitchie’s team has developed and marketed over 500 videos in less than a year for around $50 each. Their YouTube channel has over 1,900 videos with views numbering in the millions. In a changing market where video seems daunting to many, McRitchie has found ways to make it doable without costing a fortune.

“Several lower cost strategies are so simple yet very effective,” McRitchie stated. “Businesses in any sector could highly benefit from the knowledge delivered in this speech”

MozCon, put together by SEOMoz, is a conference for learning SEO strategies and actionable tips. Their motto, “Bringing together the brightest minds in our industry” explains the reason for the event – top marketers collaborating for the benefit of all. Speakers will include Jonathon Colman of REI, Martin McDonald of Expedia, Rand Fishkin of SEOMoz, and a number of other industry-leading SEOs from a variety of companies. Like McRitchie, they will offer valuable insights on how to improve strategy and ROI.

“I’m honored to be presenting alongside so many great minds,” said McRitchie. “I’m looking forward to learning what I can to bring back to my team so we can continue to improve our strategy.”

McRitchie started the MyBinding.com website from scratch nearly ten years ago and has helped it expand into one of the fastest growing private companies in the US. He is an expert at finding ways to creatively advertise and specializes in Internet marketing and SEO. McRitchie has donated his time to help a number of small, local businesses and had the opportunity to be a panel speaker at the eTail Boston conference for online retailers in 2011.

“Video marketing is only a sliver of what I do and what I’ve learned over the years as VP of Marketing,” said McRitchie. “I’m hoping to offer more helpful talks in the future on a variety of topics.”
