MyBinding.com Partners with Dahle to Release New Eco-Friendly Paper Shredders

April 5, 2012 by Jeff McRitchie

MyBinding.com introduces Dahle’s new line of environmentally friendly shredding machines.

HILLSBORO, OR, April 5, 2012 – MyBinding.com, a growing Inc. 5000 company, recently introduced a line of new Dahle eco-friendly paper shredding machines. These new paper shredders are some of the most energy efficient shredding devices on the market today.

Dahle’s SmartPower Energy Management System is what makes their new shredders so energy efficient. The SmartPower system is a multi-phase mechanism that does two things to conserve energy. First, the system registers when the machine has been inactive for ten minutes and decreases the power to go into a sleep mode. Second, the shredder completely powers down after an additional 20 minutes. While other paper shredders offer similar sleep modes, none completely power down after such a short time. The SmartPower System is perfect for companies looking for ways to reduce their electrical costs and conserve energy.

“From production to operation, Dahle has always taken environmental concerns very seriously,” said Scott Prokop, VP, Dahle North America, Inc, in a press release published on their website. “We are pleased to be able to offer such an environmentally friendly product.”

A variety of Dahle shredders are now featuring the SmartPower Energy Management System, including the CleanTEC series and others ranging from compact, personal devices up to heavy duty, multi-department machines. Security levels are available from two to six, accommodating a variety of needs. Dahle paper shredders are equipped with blades made from a single block of German steel and are aligned in an all-steel frame for a rugged, sturdy shredder. Dahle backs up their cutting shafts with a one year warranty on levels five and six and for life on the other models. These shredders also feature an ESP Protection System to prevent overfeeding and jams, rubber shock mounts for quiet operation, and a thermally-protected motor to avoid overheating.

“Dahle makes a great shredder and we’re really excited about adding their new machines to our site,” said Jeff McRitchie, Vice-President of Marketing for MyBinding.com. “They always deliver high quality products that we can be proud to offer to our customers.”

Dahle is a part of a German-born company that has grown into an international business.

Dahle is an international company that has been manufacturing high quality products since 1930. They began with pencil sharpeners, then moved on to produce scissors and shears quickly followed by guillotine and rotary paper trimmers. Although paper shredders were the last to join their product line-up, they continue the Dahle tradition of high quality, top-of-the-line performance.

MyBinding.com Partners With Fellowes To Release New American-Made Paper Shredders

February 3, 2012 by Jeff McRitchie

Fellowes-bm-content-1MyBinding.com, a division of Information Management Services, is now selling the new line of Made in the USA 400 series Fellowes shredders.

HILLSBORO, OR, February 3, 2012 – MyBinding.com, a growing Inc. 5000 company, recently introduced a line of new Fellowes paper shredders that are manufactured in Itasca, Illinois.

Fellowes has enjoyed great success in the paper shredder industry and spread their business throughout 15 different countries. But in recent years, a joint venture with a Chinese company turned sour, resulting in huge losses for their company. Fellowes then focused their efforts toward building a new Illinois facility.

“Our highest performing shredders will be manufactured in Itasca, Illinois,” stated James Fellowes, CEO, in a statement released on their company website. “The technology is better suited for these high-performance machines.”

With the unveiling of their latest shredders, it’s clear that production setbacks have not decreased the quality consumers have come to expect from a Fellowes machine. Their new products range from smaller, personal devices up to heavy-duty large office machines and offer a host of fresh features. In their newer US factory, they are specifically producing the Fellowes Powershred 400 series. These robust shredders offer higher sheet capacity on the cross-cut models, patented Jam Proof and SafeSense technologies, and an automatic oil injection system.

“Fellowes is a great company and we’re really excited about adding their new products to our site,” said Jeff McRitchie, Vice-President of Marketing for MyBinding.com. “They always deliver high quality products that we can be proud to offer to our customers.”

The new lineup of Fellowes Powershred 400 series is comprised of a variety of robust machines. All models are designed for an office with ten or more users, providing continuous duty, commercial-grade shredding. The automatic start and stop feature allows the machine to be ready anytime without needing a warmup period. And Fellowes’ patented Jam Proof technology prevents overfeeding while powering through larger jobs. Cross-cut models in the 400 series include an automatic oil injection system and the larger 485 models provide a wider 16-inch feed opening. Each Powershred 400 machine is backed by a two year warranty with lifetime coverage for the cutting cylinders.

                Are You FACTA-Compliant?

If you’re like the average American, chances are you’ve heard about identity theft. Perhaps you’ve read about it online or heard about it from a friend. Or maybe you’ve even been a victim of it. Whatever your situation may be, it’s well-known that identity theft is a terrible, traumatizing crime and that you need to protect yourself from it. If you run any type of business, it’s now important for you to protect the identities and private information of your customers and employees as well. That’s because of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act of 2003 (FACTA).

FACTA is a set of federal rules and regulations that require business owners and employers to carefully destroy any unneeded documents containing customer and employee information. This information includes names, contact information, Social Security numbers, financial history, and so on. For every employee, customer, and client you have, you need to safely dispose of this information whether it’s on paper or stored on a CD, floppy disk, etc. This applies to every business from busy parents who hire a nanny for their child to local mom-and-pop retailers all the way up to the most powerful law firms and largest corporations. Some of the documentation you need to properly dispose of include credit reports, medical records, employment applications and histories, and financial documents.

Not complying with FACTA will get you in bring trouble. You could get sued by customers and former employees which can be embarrassing and detrimental to your reputation. There are also stiff fines you may have to pay: state fines can cost up to $1,000.00 while each federal violation could cost you as much as $2,500.00.

The good news is that you can make yourself and your business FACTA-compliant by using paper shredders. These machines will properly destroy the documents so that all of that private information won’t become public knowledge. Paper shredders are available in many different sizes. Some are small enough to fit under desks and there are also larger ones that can be shared among multiple people. It would be a good idea to use a high-security cross-cut shredder such as the ones made by manufacturers such as Fellowes, Dahle, MBM, and Formax. For example, there’s the Fellowes Powershred HS-880 which has a Level 6 security rating (Level 6 is the highest rating) and can shred up to 8 sheets of paper per pass. If you’re in need of something that can destroy paper and electronic media, you can’t go wrong with a machine like the GBC Shredmaster GLHS930. It has a Level 5 rating and it can destroy CD’s and DVD’s along with paper. There are a lot of high-security shredders on the market, so you’re bound to find one that’s perfect for your needs.

Being FACTA-compliant is something you need to do to protect your customers, clients, and your business so buy a paper shredder today. It will be one of the best investments you’ll ever make.
